The yield on Italys 10-year bond increased nine basis points. The Rome-based Treasury sold the bonds to yield 6.29 percent, the highest since June 1997 and up from 5.32 percent at the last auction on Oct. 13. Demand was 1.47 times the amount on offer, compared with 1.34 times last month.
No EUR rally. But no big drop either. bid cover not that bad but yield way too high

ECB was in demand that's why the bid to cover was better

For those unfamiliar with Berlusconi's bunga bunga terms: "culona inchiavabile" means I've got her laid on a pink sofa.

crucial today is Italy bond auction. My bet is the auction will see very good bid to cover and
low yield. If so EURx will jump. Do not forget to put sl on shorts.
If so Gold will drop.

You wrote " I can see a situation in which uk might wish to join a northern european alliance and currency." so I asked, what scenario, exactly? You haven't provided one (unless I missed it, in which case I apologise).

As to Scotland; I hope they get it for so many reasons; it would be good for them and good for England too. Whether they will, well, I wouldn't bet on that either way.
