I do not use EW in isolation of many other factors, particularly market correlations and internals, so with forex you could not label me an EW purist any more than you could label me an MP purist. What I respect about you catnip is your use of correlations and internals but try please to resist rubbishing anything and everything which does not fit your maths. If something works for a trader that is all that matters. We should respect a winning methodology however that may be derived.

@Catnip: So (tying in neatly to another subject we recently discussed) could it apply to the strength of a single currency, which is only one variable? (although that's perhaps a false picture, since it's relative to all the other currencies, rather than just one other, as in a pair)?

Monte, as to Prechter's analysis service, most of his analysts are beholden to their boss's current bias, arse lickers if you like. The one exception is his forex analyst whom I rate highly. There are a lot of very second rate EW teachers.

OK Catnip, I was hoping you would resist rubbishing what I have said. The fact is that since I started looking at forex one year ago on the 1/1/2010 I can tell you there are patterns which constantly repeat and which I use for trading forex. I have to adapt EW to suit, utilise what works and discard what does not work. This pretty much applies to all instruments in one way or another. They have their own "characters". EWA would most definitely not be suited to you catnip, of that I could be certain. It requires a certain temperament :-)
