In regard to Greeks and Italians buying London property I think its also connected with a lot of tax evasion and now that swiss banks are having to reveal secret accounts life becomes tougher for our very wealthy bretheren.

Its quite a good thing in a way to have the money coming into London in these difficult times so long as we can hold onto our culture !

v true what you said...and the case is applicable nowadays more than ever. But also important to know that Greeks, Japanese & Libyans had bought stuff in London since the 1980s. And the situation escalated in 1990s and 2000s

London also has the Greek High School, the Libyan School & Japanese school so that tells you something.

Yes regarding Qaddafi's son and LSE. London has more Libyans than NY, Washington DC or Boston.

Ashraf IMHO the rich Greeks know their country is insolvent and will eventually default and be forced to leave the Ezone. So their thinking must be that by getting their capital out now and to a safe haven like London, can then allow them to go back to Greece and buy up the country on the cheap once they default. I guess the same could also be applied to the Egyptians, Syrians and Libyans you mentioned.
