Gold & Yen's Perfect Desert Storm

Yen strength still eclipsing USD rebounds during risk aversion. while gold's ascent is better gauged against currencies other than the US dollar.

As soon as Gbp dipped below the beloved 1.6200, I saw on my tick chart a trade of 12 pips UP fr the Gbp.

Gbp/Usd setting up to breach the 1.6240 resistance cap by at least 50 pips within three hours in response to UK economic data some seem to know already.

Usd/Jpy setting up to drop another 75 pips from it's current 91.00 perch in European session.

There seems to be a decoupling between Gold and "true" high yield currencies, and the eur/usd and gbp/usd pairs. The former two are struggling, while the latter two have become market favorites.

As ugly as my last long USDJPY call was, i still see renewed gains towards 93 and 95.
heres what i said in latest article:

" 93 yen is likely to pave the way for 95 but not without interim retreat to as low as 90.20s as the yen regains some short-lived lustre from an upcoming market pullback of no more than 7%."

i now see abt 60% chance of sub 90.50 before regaining 95 after which wed start new leg down.

Usd/Jpy went straight down from high to low (35 pip range) in an hour. Run those stops!

mckinnon, please read my IMTs. i have not changed my mind on gold. said yesterday it would fail 1170 and i remain persistent in expecting 1070. So you can aim for prelim target at 1105.

Usd/Jpy definately not for the faint of heart - whether short or long!
