what progress? Significant progress is raising the decontamination threshold level 17-fold
anyone eager to buy a Toyota with slightly radioactive seats?

Ashraf, very good prediction last June for usdyen. I thought you rather glossed over japan demographic nightmare plus the internal savers (bond investors) in their retirement being pretty much exhausted now. Just a 1% debt servicing increase would be completely unmanageable and change the whole equilibrium !!!???. I would welcome any further comment you might make on this aspect. I also wonder where all the debt buyers are coming from to fund the sum total of world debt?

If you need to understand Japan, read the following:

It is becoming fashionable to write about Japan and explain the nations debt position, its low interest rates, the strong currency and the notion of carry trade.

Here is an interview I did in June 2010, explaining all of these topics and why Japan CHOOSES to keep rates LOW.

There is also my prediction that USDJPY would hit 80 from 89 at the time of the interview

Cat I disagree the repatriation of yen by firms is real and happening. The yen wasn't strengthening just due to specs, real money flows (insurance co, banks, big conglomerates) and the army of Jap retail traders were pulling their cash back home. The next great potential black swan event is the return of the USD...when or how it would happen, I wish I knew...

Xaron I agree we are not facing a single CB, but all 7. But I think we will see another test of the lower handles. The specs are not done yet with the yen and we will see a big fight specs/hedge funds Vs CBs. But this time I intend of pouncing at the low levels like you and hitting USDJPY with serious size...enough to pre order the drop top SL55 AMG Merc for summer lol!!

I disagree. We have seen the all time lows. Every dip below 80 is a safe buy. It is not the BOJ alone.

The yens weakness may be short- lived as Japan would need as much as $500 billion to intervene in markets just to match its previous efforts to curb the currencys strength, according to Deutsche Bank AG.
