ashraf, the resistance from 2009 was also touched on jan 19 2010, looking at 2009 compared to 2010 it is similar albeit 2months shifted along, is this a good case for arguing a new head forming ? even if 16450 is breached 165 seems a very big level inthe context of 2009

does anyone know why Japan couldn't emergency peg its currency? or is this technically too difficult?

ashraf, thanks for the video analysis, also we have quadruple witching hour approaching this friday, the indexes' have been incredibly quiet in tight ranges this week (so far) do you think the Japanese announcement was a timed to coincide with this? also what is your analysis of witching hour ?
i remember a few years ago that after option traders got in short the month before, the markets got held up till the friday, before heading a lot lower after friday's expiries, im not saying the index's are heading lower after expiry, it's just unusual to see the markets so undecided in direction. just wonder what your view on this might be. (also is there any credance tol ECB data and US CPI m/m on friday)

ive argued this interest rate hike approach for years, i just don't understand why you would want to leave interest rates so low, japan has tried this for 10 years plus now and it simply doesnt work, i think pushing base rates up would perversely stimulate the economy, squeeze out deflation/staglation once and for all, push out speculators of an overvalued safe haven currency. The yen in world borrowing terms is virtually free money, how is that good for its economy?

sometimes all the speculation about election wins , isn't worth the effort is it?
is this a great opportunity to sell $ against yen, don't get caught with your hand in the cookie jar!

appologies for posting this link here, i know ashraf has talked/followed this hft for a while now, it could be the reason the flash crash happened (probably IS the reason)

it was strange yesterday how gbpusd tested 154 early morning (uct) then dropped a nice 50pips only to rally from midmorning through to market close touching 155, now today its back to that support line of 15375 it seems to like so much at the moment. Is this really a phenomena ? 1st of the month rallies??
