Few years ago I was invited to the BMW Mini plant in Cowley, Oxfordhsire. They were celebrating their anniversary. When I had a guided tour on their production line I couldn't believe how much had changed since the 1960's. Almost entirely robots and I had to look very hard to see a human being on the production line. I used to rally the Cooper S's on the monte carlo and alpine rallies. We would finish up in the monte carlo casino and have no money to get back except for using out of date petrol coupons :-)

I expect there will be a mini cooper owners club for your research. In the long run it would pay you to buy one that has been fully restored to a high standard. I am way out of touch with that world now. The Japanese used to love minis and caterham 7's (or Lotus 7's)

wow! 1275cc model, my dear sir!

i am planning to buy one, but not make decision yet. got a friend in german who love that tiny little car very much, and i have been infected...

not so sure about body work costs, and supercharger things. local garage are expensive, try to find a private garage to built one.

I also knew Frank Williams back in the days when his wages cheques would be bounced by his bank :-)

I had the pleasure of meeting John Cooper on several occasions when he ran his racing stables in Surrey

which one Qingyu. The first cooper was 997cc. Then quickly followed by 998cc different version. Then the 1071cc Cooper S version followed by the 970cc short stroke engine and then finally the 1275cc Cooper S.
